General purpose stainless with good mechanical properties. Minimizes carbide precipitation during welding. Excellent resistance to a wide range of corrosives and atmospheric exposures.

Best corrosion resistance of the standard stainless steels. Resists pitting and most chemicals. Used in the paper, textile and photographic industries.

Originally formulated for muffler stock - also used for exterior parts in non-critical corrosive applications. Economical and easily fabricated.

General purpose heat treatable used where corrosion is not severe. Lower carbon offers improved weldability, but lower hardenability.

Most widely used of the non-hardenable chromium types. Combines good heat resistance and mechanical properties. High resistance to corrosives such as nitric acid and many organic acids.
